The Peel Trust Studentship (worth up to £4000) is unique to Lancaster, and is reserved for applicants aged 21 or over on the first day of the first term for which they are seeking assistance. Both UK and international students may apply, with applications assessed on the basis of academic merit and financial need.
General information about the Peel Trust:
The Peel Studentship Trust was established in 1964 by donations from the Dowager Countess Eleanor Peel Trust. Find more information about the Trust.
The awards are available for the support of students for first or higher degrees, in any subject. The period of the award is one academic year, although students can apply each year. The value of the award is determined by the Trustees in each case.
Applicants must be aged 21 and over on the first day of the first term for which they are seeking assistance. The award is based on academic merit and financial hardship. The Trustees will consider both academic and financial positions.
The application process (see below) for this award is very competitive and therefore only fully completed applications will be considered. A maximum of approximately 20 awards are made each year.

The online applications for funding provision for the academic year 23/24 are available here and will close on the 29th May 2023.
Once submitted you cannot return to the application.
Please note that you will need to submit an Academic Reference with your online application form. For current LU students we suggest a reference from an LU academic. For new students joining Lancaster in 23/24 this needs to be from your most recent course of study. Please do not use the reference that has been supplied to Admissions for your course application.
